In the next few years, this country will experience the largest intergenerational transfer of wealth in its history. Live On: Build Your Jewish Legacy is designed to help Denver/Boulder Jewish organizations capitalize on this transfer of wealth by raising awareness in the community about the importance, benefits and personal rewards of endowment giving, particularly when accomplished with estate gifts.
Live On: Build Your Jewish Legacy is a grant initiative supported by Rose Community Foundation, that follows on the success of The Endowment Challenge. From 1999 through 2002, 19 Denver and Boulder organizations serving the Jewish community participated in The Endowment Challenge, a Rose Community Foundation initiative in partnership with Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado. The Endowment Challenge helped Jewish agencies and synagogues ask their donors for endowment donations and educated them about the importance of building endowments. By the initiatives completion, the organizations had raised more than $19 million in new endowments. By the middle of 2005 these endowment funds were valued at nearly $23 million.
Live On is modeled after the Jewish Community Foundation of San Diegos Endowment Leadership Institute and Create a Jewish Legacy campaign. In the second year of this three-year program, San Diego now has 419 legacy gifts from 298 families for an estimated $50,550,000. |
